Refresh Your Window Graphics

By | Office Vinyl Graphics, Vinyl Care, Window Graphics, Windows and Doors

Window graphics fade over time.  What looked great at first gets tired and worn.  Take a hard look next time you come to work.

Signs of Graphic Deterioration

Signs of aging graphics include faded colors, brittle or cracked vinyl and lifting corners.  What causes vinyl graphics to fail?  The number one culprit is the sun.  If your graphics are south facing or get a lot of sun then all of the signs will eventually occur.  Printed color graphics on exterior windows should have a UV protective laminate.  That definitely helps.  The Mighty Sign Makers always laminate exterior window and door graphics.  This slows the signs of graphic deterioration.  Single color cut vinyl has some UV protection built it but it too will degrade over time.  When you see the corner or edge of the graphics starting to lift the failure has begun.  If the vinyl has been on the glass for a long period of time it will start to shrink and crack.  Vinyl shrinks over time.  It doesn’t matter if it is a vehicle wrap, a sign or window graphics.  At some point, the vinyl will shrink enough to begin to fail.  This usually takes a few years, less in a hot, sunny location.

Refresh Window Graphics

People typically don’t notice graphic failure until up close.  Any customer-facing window or door gets scrutinized every time someone sees it.  It’s not the first impression a customer has of your business, but it does create one.  Especially if there are signs of graphic degradation.  If you think no one notices, think again.  There is important information on your windows and doors.  Graphics may include your business name, address, phone number, logo and more.  People do notice.  It is time to refresh if something about your business has changed.  The Mighty Sign Makers did our own windows recently.  We want our exterior to showcase our business, our services, our logo, and our tagline.  Sign companies, ours included, are guilty of making then forgetting their signs.  The Mighty Sign Makers realize that our signage is critical to our business, so we did a refresh of all of our windows.

New Window Graphic Options

The companies that make the types of vinyl and materials we use must never sleep.  New and improved products hit the market constantly.  Manufacturers like Oracal, 3M, and Avery find new processes to improve their products and this leads to longer graphic life.  The Mighty Sign Makers value our customer partnerships.  We discuss these options with you before you make the purchase.

Brand with Window and Door Graphics for Dental Firms in Vancouver WA

By | Windows and Doors | No Comments

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a mannequin? What would it be like to be dressed in the latest fashions standing in a window for hours on end while people gawk at you? Do you think you’d get a little uncomfortable with it? Now, imagine if you had hands jammed in your mouth with your spittle slowly dribbling down. You definitely don’t want anyone to see you like that, right? Advanced Dental Concepts understood that their clients want privacy, so they contacted Specialty Graphic Solutions for window and door graphics for dental firms in Vancouver, WA.

What’s Advanced Dental Concepts?

Situated on Northeast Vancouver Mall Drive, Advanced Dental Concepts is the practice of Dr. Jack Jorgensen and his knowledgeable and friendly staff. They’re dedicated to making their patients’ visits a great experience. They pride themselves on providing a warm, personal touch in a relaxed, comfortable setting. The doctor knows that going to the dentist isn’t anybody’s idea of a good time, so he provides amenities like nitrous oxide, warm neck wraps, infection control, bottled water, and blankets. Also, they avoid keeping overgrown Venus fly traps named Seymour.

When a business that creates gorgeous smiles for miles throughout our community came to us for window and door graphics for dental firms in Vancouver, WA, we were glad to sink our teeth into this project. We like doing dental projects. In fact, we’ve helped out the Dental Foundation of Oregon and Timber Dental among others. Advanced Dental Concepts contacted our mighty sign makers because they were having some privacy issues. Fortunately, we knew just what to do.

What We Did

Our first step of the graphics creation process is to meet with our client and check out their venue. Advanced Dental Concepts had large storefront windows that were facing a busy street. As people walked, drove, or skated by, they could just look in and see the molars and canines of all of the doctor’s patients. This simply wouldn’t do! Most of us are at our most vulnerable when we have hands in our mouths. We don’t want strangers to get in on the show!

We recommended large window wraps that would kill two birds with one stone: they’d add privacy while projecting the family practice image that Advanced Dental Concepts was going for. They were on board, and after they approved the mockups we provided them with, we got down to work.

All of the graphics are printed on top-quality vinyl using our state of the art large format digital printer. Once the graphics were ready, we scheduled a time to install the graphics when we wouldn’t be bugging the patients! In the end, Advanced Dental Concepts was completely satisfied with the work we did. Now, their patients are completely at ease as they put their chompers on display for the good doctor.

Are you inadvertently putting your clients on display for the whole world to see? Why not give them a little privacy and contact SGS today for a free consultation on window graphics?

Manolo Walls Pops with New Business Signs and Graphics

By | Exterior Signs, New Business Signs, Windows and Doors | No Comments

Opening up a new storefront without the right signage is worse than walking around town naked. At least when you’re walking around naked, you catch people’s attention. When your storefront doesn’t have signage, no one will notice you. Sure, you could “keep Portland weird” and just have naked people stand in front of your store, or you could get ahead of the ball and have vibrant, full-color signs. Manolo Walls chose the option that would attract the right kind of attention and contacted Specialty Graphic Solutions for new business signs and graphics in Portland, OR.

Manolo Walls? Tell Me More

Located on Southeast Gideon in Portland, Manolo Walls is the gloriously designed brainchild of Nelli Pavlenko. With more than a decade of experience in the home décor and home improvement industry, she has worked side-by-side with design professionals and homeowners to produce beautiful results for her clients. Some of the custom wall coverings she offers are wallpaper, 3D wall flats, acoustic panels, ceiling tiles, and much more.

When a business that’s keeping area homes looking their best came to us for new business signs and graphics for Portland, OR, we were more than willing to help. Manolo Walls had recently moved into a new location and Nelli needed a whole host of signs for the new place. Fortunately, she called the mighty sign makers at SGS for help.

What We Did for Manolo Walls

Nelli wanted to make her new venue shine with exterior branding. So, that’s exactly what we did. For the windows, we used vinyl graphics featuring a full-color laminated print logo and their phone number and website information. These were installed on the exterior of the glass entrance door.

Next, we created a building sign with the Manolo logo. The panel is three feet by three feet and three millimeters thick. It’s an aluminum composite Alupanel with laminated digital print. We affixed the panel directly to the building wall. This was a simple way to brand the business without breaking the bank.

We installed all of the new signage for Nelli. In fact, we did it all ahead of schedule. Now, customers can easily find the store, and she’s building her brand by using her unique logo and not just some cut vinyl wording on her door. Nelli was completely satisfied with her new signs. She even sent us the following note: “Thank you! The signs look amazing!”

Don’t Let Your Store Go around Naked

As soon as the paint dries on your lease, give SGS a call. We can work with you to make your grand opening go as smoothly as possible. If you’re moving locations, you‘ll want a banner informing your current clients of the impending move. At your new spot, “coming soon” and “grand opening” banners are great solutions. And, of course, we can provide you with all of the permanent interior and exterior markers you may need from ADA signs to A-frame sidewalk signs.

If you need to outfit your new venue with top-quality signage, contact SGS today for a free consultation and estimate!

Brand Building Blade Sign and Window Graphics for Glacier Tanks!

By | Exterior Signs, Windows and Doors | No Comments

When you move your business into a bigger facility, you will inevitably lose some clientele. However, you can minimize any dip in sales at your new venue by making it abundantly clear that there is a new enterprise in the neighborhood, and you mean business! Glacier Tanks realized this, so they contacted Specialty Graphic Solutions for window graphics in Vancouver.

Glacier Tanks? Is that an Arctic Army Surplus Store?

Not even close. If you run a microbrewery, you’re likely quite familiar with what Glacier Tanks LLC has to offer. Newly located on Northwest 114th Street in Vancouver, they’ve been selling beer brewing tanks and accessory equipment for almost a decade now. This makes them invaluable to the Pacific Northwest where the microbrew is king. They provide a wide array of industrial grade tanks, valves, tubing, kettles, fermenters, burners, and much more.

When an organization that provides such important products to support our local brewers came to us for blade signs in Vancouver, WA, we put down our drinks and got right down to work. Due to their growing success, Glacier Tanks had outgrown their original location near the airport in Portland and needed something bigger. So, they recently moved their operation to a new facility right by the SGS headquarters. They needed new markers that wouldn’t break the bank since their relocating costs were so high already. We knew just what to do!

We Gave Glacier Tanks the SGS Treatment

One of the least expensive ways to put your name on your new venue and help clients old and new find your new spot is with simple cut vinyl door graphics. So, that’s exactly what we recommended for Glacier Tanks. We perfectly replicated their existing logo using Avery 700 high-performance vinyl, which is celebrated for its durability. We also added a directional arrow to point the way to the store and will call.

The smaller brewing tanks and other products that Glacier Tanks offers are often picked up directly by customers. To avoid confusion, they needed to clearly communicate their hours and where these clients should enter their big new facility.

To make the Will Call entrance easily visible for approaching customers, we created a blade sign that hangs perpendicular to the wall, so it pops out as visitors round the corner from the main entrance. The blade sign consists of a 3mm white aluminum composite panel with a full-color print and protective laminate adhered to it. The powder coated steel sign bracket that it hangs from is screwed directly into the wall.

We used a simple building sign also on a 3mm white aluminum composite panel to display the business hours. The cut vinyl text and info was applied directly to the face of the sign material. We then used 3M’s VHB tape, a commercial grade double sided tape, to affix the panel to the building.

In the end, their branding is easily viewable for all who come to pick up brew tanks as well as for those who drive by their facility. If you want to attract consumers to your new location, contact the mighty sign makers at SGS today for a free consultation on relocation signage.

1709 Records “Spins In” with New Store Opening Signage!

By | New Store Signs, Windows and Doors | No Comments

These days, vinyl is a sought after commodity. From music lovers to sign makers, vinyl is valued for its durability and versatility. So, maybe we use completely different vinyl from what the record companies put out: the sentiment is still the same. 1709 Records recognizes the power of vinyl and contacted Specialty Graphics Solutions for new store opening signs for Vancouver, WA.

1709 Records? That Can’t Be enough to Open a Shop

1709 isn’t a reference to how many albums 1709 Records has. Rather, it’s their address number on Broadway Street in Vancouver. They’re the newest record store to hit the area, specializing in buying, selling, and trading vinyl albums. The new shop is owned by Miki Rodgers and her husband, who plays in a rock and roll band.

When such a cool vinyl shop contacted us for window graphics for new stores opening in Vancouver, WA, we couldn’t wait to introduce them to some of our vinyl. Miki at 1709 Records contacted us about producing window graphics for their storefront window and glass entry door as well as updating a blade sign with their branding. We helped them out with this and more!

What We Rocked out for 1709 Records

1709 Records’ location has a big storefront window: perfect for us to lay down some vinyl. To get the party started, we used Avery High Performance Calendared Vinyl to produce the six foot wide cut vinyl text.

The print vinyl sign for the glass entry door was a little trickier. Miki wanted us to include the 1709 Records logo which features a black vinyl record. Unfortunately, dark images don’t play well on glass. Our mighty sign maker Jason collaborated with Miki to come up with an additional design element to rectify this problem: musical notes on a white band as a background for the record. This made it more visible and interesting. And, we achieved the look with Oracal 3651RA intermediate vinyl with protective laminate to ensure the graphics would still be a hit for many years to come.

There was already an existing, double-sided aluminum blade sign hanging above the awning out front. Rather than removing it and installing something else, we were able to put 36” by 20” graphics featuring 1709’s branding on the blade sign. Again, for this, we used one of our greatest hits: Oracal 3651RA with protective laminate.

Now, Miki didn’t ask us about a “Coming Soon” banner for 1709 Records, but we included it in the bid anyway because, even though they aren’t opening their doors to the public until October, it’s never too early to let people know what’s in store. Miki loved the idea when she got the bid on August 13th. The sixth annual Sip & Stroll was scheduled for the 15th, and the route went right by their storefront. They needed the banner in a hurry to expose more than a thousand people to their branding. We told her no problem, and printed up the banner on the 14th.

In the end, 1709 Records was completely satisfied. They’re already in talks with us about A Boards, also called A-frame signs, to place in strategic spots to lure in potential customers.

Rebranding Merger Signs a Plus for LAUDA-Noah in Vancouver!

By | Exterior Signs, Lobby Signs, Windows and Doors | No Comments

“You got peanut butter on my chocolate!”

“You got chocolate on my peanut butter!”

Mergers can get confusing. There are many aspects that need to be considered. For example, what are you going to call yourself? What will the new logo look like? One important aspect that you need to act on is updating your signs with your new brand as soon as possible. LAUDA-Noah recognized this, so they contacted the mighty sign makers at SGS for signage makeovers Vancouver WA consumers would embrace.

I’m Familiar with Noah Precision, but What Is LAUDA-Noah?

Located on Southeast Columbia Way in Vancouver, Noah Precision was founded three decades ago. They were the first to put thermoelectric devices in temperature control systems for semiconductor water processing applications. Last year, Noah merged with LAUDA, a German company, to combine their resources to develop, manufacture, distribute, support, and service heat exchangers and chillers for the semiconductor industry. Still have no idea what they do? No problem! We didn’t know much either before this project. We’ll stick to what we know below.

When a business that brings so much work to our community came to us for rebranding signs for Vancouver, WA, we jumped in our truck and headed to their offices to see for ourselves what needed to be done. There were three separate signs that needed the new logo: an exterior building sign, lobby sign, and door graphics.

How We Tackled This Project

We’ll look at each of the signs we refurbished in turn. First up:

The Overhead Building Sign

The business park LAUDA-Noah is a part of has specific guidelines for what building signs can and can’t look like or be made of. The old sign featured raised sign foam letters with silver laminate that were mounted on a painted sign panel. We brought the sign back to our shop and removed the old letters. For an environmentally (and pocketbook-ly) friendly solution, we reused the old panel by cleaning it and repainting it the color of the building to blend in. We added 2-lb. sign foam letters with silver laminate faces to the panel, which we then reinstalled above the office entrance.

Lobby Sign

As with the building sign, the lobby sign was also made using foam letters with silver laminate. LAUDA-Noah went with our recommendation to use PVC letters this time, so that we could really make the dark grays and bright yellow in the new logo pop. The sides of the letters were painted to match. We then worked with their schedule to install the new lobby sign on the wall directly behind the reception desk.

Door Graphics

White cut vinyl lettering was used for the old logo on the door. Rather than using gray or silver again, we went with white for the letters to help the graphics contrast with the glass of the door. For the non-textual graphic elements, we used a vibrant yellow. To make sure LAUDA-Noah was never without signage, we removed the old vinyl and installed the new on the same day we took down the building sign to bring back to the shop.

In the end, it was precisely what the client wanted. We had another satisfied customer!

Are you in the process of rebranding? Don’t forget your signage! SGS can take over that part of the process. Just give us a call today for a free consultation!

Drinkers Drawn Into The Thirsty Sasquatch with Window Graphics & Sandwich Board Sign!

By | Retail Signs, Windows and Doors | No Comments

A big hairy beast comes out of the mist. He has spent a long day toiling in the forests of the Pacific Northwest lugging around his massive feet and trying to avoid being seen, but now, he’s in need of libations. Which bar should he choose? The Thirsty Sasquatch recognized the need to advertise their business to parched consumers, so they called in the friendly and mighty sign makers of Specialty Graphic Solutions for sidewalk signs for Vancouver, WA.

What Do Thirsty Sasquatches Drink?

If the offerings at the The Thirsty Sasquatch are any indication, sasquatches have a diverse palate that includes local craft beers, small batch spirits, wine, ciders, root beer, and kombucha. Located on Main Street in Vancouver, they focus on procuring the best as well as hardest to find and most unique skillfully crafted beverages. In short – they revel in celebrating potent potables.

When such a fun new business came to us for signs Vancouver WA brew fans would notice, our mighty sign makers got right down to work. The Thirsty Sasquatch needed a sidewalk sign to attract foot traffic as well as window graphics that would help build their brand and let dehydrated Washingtonians know they’ve found the right place.

We Provided Them with Our Legendary Service

For the sidewalk sign, we used a simple two-sided A-frame construction. The Thirsty Sasquatch already had a logo, so we simply incorporated it along with the typeface into the signage. We used a simple black and white print for maximum contrast.

For the bar window graphics for Vancouver, WA, we used frosted cut vinyl to create the logo again. This gives the appearance that The Thirsty Sasquatch shelled out big money to have a professional etch their logo into the glass, but you and we know that this isn’t true. It can be our little secret. Finally, we professionally installed the vinyl in time for happy hour. The client was completely satisfied!

“I Want Sidewalk Signs!”

Do you own or manage a business that’s in an area that gets a lot of foot traffic? If so, why not put your marketing materials and branding in a spot where consumers will literally have to go out of their way to avoid it?

The classic sidewalk sign, or A-frame, is a favorite option for bars and restaurants alike. They can be used to let hungry folks know what great deals you have to offer, advertise the freshest menu options of the day, and showcase seasonal specialties, such as summer ales! You might also want to let people know about the latest wine and food pairings, the soup of the day, and happy hour specials. The possibilities are virtually limitless. SGS supplies A-frames that take inserts, dry erase boards, or even old fashioned chalk boards.

If you’re ready to attract new customers to your bar, restaurant, bistro, café, or dining room, whether they’re mythical or not, contact us today for a free quote and consultation on signage.

New Business Branding: Graphic & Sign Solutions

By | Exterior Signs, Windows and Doors | No Comments

You don’t need to be a brainiac to know that branding is essential to the success of any business. A big part of branding is having unique signage that represents your company culture. PiperNP recognized this as she was launching her new business and contacted the mighty sign makers at Specialty Graphic Solutions for exterior signs Vancouver, WA would notice.

A Little About PiperNP

Located at Northeast 109th Court in Vancouver, PiperNP Psychiatry Services, Inc. is the business of Piper Buersmeyer. She’s an ANCC board certified Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. What does all that mean? Basically, she is an expert at medication management for clients of just about any age. She treats ODD, selective mutism, phobias, bipolar disorder, autism, ADHD, OCD, anxiety, and much more.

When such an upstanding member of our community care to us for signage for her new business, we were more than happy to be the masterminds behind her project. Piper is just starting out, so she needed new business branding Vancouver WA would remember: a building sign, window/door graphics, and even stationery and business cards.

How We Helped Piper

First of all, we got started on the building sign. Since the business is new, Piper needed to make wise budget decisions. So, we recommended affordable flat panel signs. These are made of three millimeter thick aluminum composite material. A full color vinyl print is adhered to the panel along with a protective laminate to ensure the sign lasts for many years to come. We created a mid-sized sign, six feet wide by two and a half feet tall, that can be seen from great distances.

Next, we printed out vinyl graphics for the glass door featuring the same branding as the building sign. Since the glass is heavily tinted, we applied the graphics to the exterior and used vinyl and laminate designed to stand up against the weather.

Finally, Piper asked us if we knew of any good places for business cards and stationery. As a one stop shop for all kinds of ways to get notice, we told her we knew of a place. Our “Jill of All Trades” Kindra got down to work rendering Piper’s blue flower logo as a watermark on printer paper and envelopes. For brand consistency, she also included it in the letterhead, on the return address line of the envelopes, and on the business cards.

It took us less than two weeks from when the order came in until installation was complete. In the end, Piper had professional signage and stationery that put to shame the plain Jane materials many private practices use. Piper will definitely stand out.

The Best Brains in the Business

Are you starting a new company or just opening a new location? If so, why not put the best minds in the industry to work for you? Before the ink dries on your lease, we can start crafting your new markers whether you are in need of building signs or window graphics Vancouver WA consumers will notice.

I Like Comics “Jesters” Up Interior and Exterior POP Signs!

By | Point of Purchase Signs, Retail Signs, Windows and Doors

Point of Purchase Signs

You may read that title and wonder, “What are POP signs?” Nope, we’re not talking soda. POP is short for point of purchase signs”.  This popular type of signage can be found in just about any retail store. This is because it’s one of the most effective ways to let customers know about your must-have products as well as to build your brand.

I Like Comics recognized this, so they contacted the mighty sign makers at Specialty Graphic Solutions for retail store POP signs Vancouver WA comic fans will appreciate.

We Like I Like Comics

If you are like us, when you think of comic book stores, the Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons comes to mind. Fortunately, the people at I Like Comics are not snobby and sarcastic like The Simpsons character. I Like Comics is owned by Chris and Amy Simons. Their store recently opened up on Broadway Street as a result of two smaller comic stores merging to form one larger business.

I Like Comics buys and sells original artwork, comic books, statues, graphic novels, and other collectibles. Plus, they provide deals on subscription boxes.

What We Did

When a company that is so active in our community came to us for signage, we sprang into action faster than a superhero off to save a damsel in distress. For I Like Comics, we produced a wide array of interior and exterior signs.

For the outside of the store, we created and installed a full color, laminated print logo on their front window. On the door to the storefront, we listed the hours of operation and contact information using standard vinyl lettering.

Hanging from the awning at the store entrance, we installed a double sided blade sign. This features the store’s logo print on PVC. For the actual building sign, we adhered a laminated digital print to an 8’ by 4’ three-millimeter thick Alupanel (an aluminum composite panel) and installed it directly to the exterior of the brick building.

And, to attract the foot traffic along Broadway, we fabricated an affordable A-frame/sandwich board for I Like Comics to put out on the sidewalk during business hours.

SGS really livened up the interior of I Like Comics with onomatopoeic sound effects from Marvel Comics applied directly to the painted area above the front window. We created these by using our wide format digital printer to print directly on adhesive backed vinyl.

Banners for Wizard World Comic Con

Finally, Chris and Amy asked us what we could do to help them get ready for the Wizard World Comic Con. After talking with them, we found out that they planned on attending a number of events this year, including the Rose City Comic Con, so we recommended a heavy-duty yet inexpensive retractable banner stand. These trade show displays are easy to transport and set up. Plus, they can be used to get your message across between conventions.

In the end, SGS saved the day and had another satisfied client.

Are you in need of a point of purchase signs? Vancouver, WA businesses can turn to Specialty Graphic Solutions for all of your signage needs. We take care of the entire process from start to finish. Contact us today for a free consultation and quote!
