Corporate Values and Company Mission Statements

By | Dimensional Letter Signs, Inside Signs, Interior Signs, Lobby Signs, Uncategorized, Wall Graphics, Wall Murals, Walls Graphics

A corporate values display for a wall showcases what your company believes.  Every company has unique values.  A core values display can take many forms and should be unique to each company. Once your company establishes its mission statement, values or just some words that stand for your company beliefs, the Mighty Sign Makers will display it in all of its glory!

Display your values proudly

A wall display is ideal because it keeps those words front and center.  A core values display doesn’t have to cost a lot of money.  The Mighty Sign Makers have done some really awesome wall graphics using cut vinyl.  One of our most popular projects is the Permafrost Corporate Values display.  We used multiple frosted vinyl panels that float off the wall each with a value done in white lettering.  Bright, brushed aluminum, 3-d lettering really brings the display together nicely.

The Value of Values

When selecting values that represent your organization, it is easy to fall into the standard values trap.  For example, look at these values:  Communication. Respect. Integrity. Excellence.   Pretty good ones, right?  These are from Enron.  Remember them?  It doesn’t do much good to have words like these if they don’t represent the way your company operates.  In their defense, Greed, Lies, and Deceit don’t really look good as a corporate values display in the lobby.  At Specialty Graphic Solutions we take our company values very seriously.  We call it our Manifesto.

Mighty Sign Maker Manifesto

We know these things to be true:
  • Creative Thinking Builds A Better Mouse Trap
    • Step outside the box to open up new possibilities for design,
      materials, processes and problem-solving.
  • Two Heads Are Better Than One
    • Communicate, collaborate and be a great team player with other
employees, customers, suppliers and our community.
  • Little Things Make A Big Difference
    • Sweat all the individual little details that make each project unique
      and successful.
  • Responsibility Is Nothing To Fear
    • Take the reins & make things happen. Own your choices, your
      mistakes, AND your successes!
  • Sustainability Is More Than Just-Recycling
    • Use all our resources wisely – materials, people & time – to create a
healthy future for our company and our community.
  • Great Service Is Personal
    • Know our customers and their individual needs. That’s how we can
focus our efforts to solve THEIR specific problems.

The difference between a company like Enron and Specialty Graphic Solutions, other than the obvious: we are still in business, is really believing in our corporate values.  It is critical that everyone in your company from the senior executives down to the most important people punching the time clock all believe and live those values.  A corporate values display is a great way to show your people and the world what your organization lives and breathes.

At Specialty Graphic Solutions the Mighty Sign Makers we work by our manifesto.  We know that any of our customers can look at those words and know we walk the walk.

Mighty Sign Maker lobby dimensional letters on wall

Rebranding, All Over the USA

By | Inside Signs, Interior Signs, Lobby Signs, Reception Area Signs

When Astadia needed to rebrand five locations with new lobby signs they called The Mighty Sign Makers for rebranding help.  With just a single point of contact, our client was able to complete sign projects in Dallas, TX; Houston, TX; Jacksonville, FL; Raleigh, NC; and Nashua, NH. This meant that our client’s marketing team could stay focused on the needs of their customers instead of all the details involved in coordinating a lobby sign project in each location separately.  Specialty Graphic Solutions fabricated, shipped and installed five great lobby signs. This ensured a consistent and high-quality brand image is conveyed in all of their US offices.  Ordering and installing new signage, as part of a company rebranding, is often one of the last priorities.  Corporations with multiple locations nationally or internationally either have an in-house design department or they use a separate design company.  What they don’t have is production and installation capabilities.  That is where we come in.

The lobby signs they designed all feature a brushed metal panel with raised letters and the logo that welcome clients and employees alike to the Astadia offices. The new logo represents the direction of the company and the future it envisions for clients. Astadia’s CEO, Rebecca Rogers Tijerino, explained the colorful design as such: “The triangle symbolizes creativity; the delicate combination of colors is the powerful combination of ideas and skills; the peak points to the cloud, where technology and our aspirations lie; and its shape resembles an ‘A’ for Astadia.”

At Specialty Graphic Solution, we make it easy to create signs for multiple locations. We take care of all the details for you – including arrangements for local installers to ensure your new signs are displayed professionally in each unique location.  It was exciting to work with Astadia as their company starts this new chapter. The company specializes in streamlining and improving data resources for businesses so they can function better and grow.

We will help you Get Noticed when rebranding, lobby signs, reception signs, corporate values and core belief displays and other indoor signage.  The Mighty Sign makers also produce excellent building signs, vehicle graphics, fleet graphics, trade show displays, window graphics, event signage, wall murals and more.

Your Lobby Says a Lot; Dress it for Success

By | Interior Signs, Lobby Signs

It’s about that brushed metal letters on a reclaimed wood wall, isn’t it?  There are things we can’t control. It’s a fact of life. Some things just happen and you can’t stop them. One of the things you control is creating an exciting lobby sign for your reception area.  If you think the lobby sign isn’t putting your companies best foot forward then it’s about time you did something about it. Go to your lobby and look straight in the reception desk and if you are not blown away you have an opportunity. It’s a shame because it was a good lobby for someone back in the days before you bought the building. Now, it wishes it were younger and better looking, so it’s just bitter. It drives away your business, makes you look bad, and even though your mom keeps asking you to give it another chance, it’s time you let it go.

You might have some reservations. You have fond memories of when you first walked in those doors and decided to buy the space. You can remember your first client sitting, just there, in that horribly ugly green chair.

Just remember you didn’t turn your back on the lobby, it turned its back on you.

First Impressions

Your lobby sign is the first thing that people see when they come into your space. It does two things. First, it lets people know that they’re not lost and that this is the building they were looking for. Next, it sets an impression of you and the way you do things. Your lobby is usually the first thing in your building that really works to build your brand. When people realize that they’re in the building they need to be in, don’t make them regret it.

With Specialty Graphic Solutions, we can help you make sure that your lobby leaves an awesome first impression on anyone who visits your office. We make awesome lobby signs that can build your brand the minute people walk in your door. You’ll let people know where they are, but also who you are. You can start making that good impression with a professional modern sign made to your specifications in your desired material.

Depending on the look you want and the message you want to send, you can choose from glass, metals, wood, stone, or different types of lettering to make your sign and your lobby your own.

We also have tons of other products that can add a bit of flair and personality to your lobby. From prints and banners to wayfinding and ADA signs, we can provide all kinds of products that can help you with your lobby problem and build your brand.

With a brand-new lobby sign and a few of our graphics, you might even be able to keep that ugly green chair.

Riverview Trust Benefits from Signs and Graphics for Banks in the Portland Metro Area

By | Interior Signs

As you prepare to open a new location, you’re likely busy with immediate needs, such as remodeling the space to fit your business. You may think that your suite has to be completely finished before you can commission new signage. We’re here to prove to you that your signs and graphics for banks in the Portland Metro area (and elsewhere) can be ready for you before your facility is even built.  Logo Lobby Signs create a proffessional space. lobby sign

A Trust Company with a View

Situated on Meadows Road in Lake Oswego, Riverview Trust Company was established nearly two decades ago in Vancouver. As a state-chartered trust company, they provide wealth planning, trust services, and investment management to families, nonprofits, and individuals throughout Oregon and Washington.

Riverview Trust wanted something spectacular for their new office space. The Mighty Sign Makers love doing the spectacular. It was a match made in Portland! “Specialty” is part of our name, and “soup to nuts” projects are our favorite game. It doesn’t hurt that our staff is a bunch of mixed nuts. The good kind, not just peanuts and Brazil nuts. We’ve got plenty of cashews in there!

Riverview Trust Could Trust Us to Make Them Look Great

Our first few meetings were about designs. Riverview Trust’s logo featured the Columbia River and Mt. Hood. We thought, “No problem! We can see Mt. Hood from our shop!” But then, they threw us for a curve: they wanted the mountain mirrored on the river. How could we keep the logo simple but incorporate this complex attribute? Plus, they wanted a 3D sign mounted away from the wall and incorporating the logo in brushed aluminum.

We put our heads together and quickly decided that we were getting a little too close and awkwardly moved to our idea table. Once we were all more comfortable, we came up with breaking the reflection of the mountain in the logo into strips and using two colors to make it really pop.

After we got the logo lobby sign down, it was time to stretch our brain cells a bit more and create unique and stylish signs for the rest of the office. When we saw glass on some of the office doors and walls, we came up with a brilliant idea. What if we could create dimensional nameplates that look like they’re floating in mid-air? Home run! Of course, not everyone gets an office with an (interior and exterior) view. For the solid doors, we used the same signs and mounted them on the doors. The door leading into the suite is glass and wood. This was perfect for the frosted vinyl look.

Installation Stall

We had all of the signs ready. At that point, we just needed to wait for the construction team to finish building out the office. We couldn’t wait for installation day and neither could the good folks at Riverview. Finally, the build-out was completed, and we could work our Mighty Sign Magic.

We’re proud of the fantastic results. And, more importantly, everyone at Riverview Trust loved how the signs looked in their new digs.

Flying High with Interior Dimensional Lettering in Portland Oregon!

By | Dimensional Letter Signs, Interior Signs

Our mighty sign makers have been in training for years in a variety of conditions. Most of their work is serving the local business community, but they’re always keeping up with the latest technology and trends so that they’ll be prepared for anything. Little did they know that one day they’d be called on to serve their country. That’s precisely what happened when the 304th Rescue Squadron contacted Specialty Graphic Solution for interior dimensional lettering in Portland, Oregon.

Who Are These Fly Guys and Gals?

Situated at the Portland Air National Guard Base, the 304th Rescue Squadron picks up where the previous 303 rescue squadrons left off. Commanded by Lt. Col. Thomas J. Stephens, they’re an Air Force Reserve Command combat-search-and-rescue unit that trains personnel with equipment to achieve and maintain the capability to perform combat rescue missions both day and night. Their missions include searching for, locating, and recovering US Air Force and other Department of Defense personnel involved in defense activities.

When a group that does such an important job serving our country came to us for dimensional lettering for training rooms in Portland, Oregon, we were happy to come to the rescue. The 304th Rescue Squadron wanted to display their mission in their briefing/training room. Fortunately, our mighty sign makers were up for the mission.

What We Did for the 304th

Before we start any project, we like to meet with the client to see what they have in mind. Based on the 304th Rescue Squadron’s goals, we suggested dimensional letter. They liked the idea, so we created some art proofs of what the finished marker would look like. The hard part was locating the CO (military speak for commanding officer or base commander).  You see, nothing gets done without the CO giving approval. And, we had to make sure it was right the first time. We eventually got his rubber stamp.

The marker is made up of a combination of upper and lower case letters. The upper case letters were four inches in height. Each letter is 3/8” thick flat cut brushed aluminum with a clear anodized finish. For these letters, vertical grain is standard, but we can also provide horizontal grain for no extra charge.

Once we had our Ts crossed and Is dotted, it was time for the installation. So, we headed to the base where we were always under the watchful eye of base security. Our installers had to be escorted from the main gate and back. We kept our eyes peeled for F-16s and Black Hawks, but we didn’t get to see any.

Each letter was mounted with 3/16” studs and ½” spacers to create a floating effect on the interior sheetrock wall. The CO was unable to be present for the installation, so we positioned the letters by sending cell phone pictures to him. Luckily, we passed the CO’s final inspection with flying colors. Now, everyone who enters the room will be inspired to give their all.

Whether your organization saves warriors in combat or makes cute hair ties, we’ll help you look your best. For a free consultation, contact the mighty sign makers at SGS today!

Interior Signs in Vancouver WA: What’s Available?

By | Inside Signs, Interior Signs

We’re all familiar with the platitude “It doesn’t matter what you look like on the outside. It’s what’s on the inside that counts.” Sure, this advice can do a lot of good for kids with self-esteem issues. However, we all know it isn’t always true. This slogan has the same level of veracity in the signage industry.

Interior Signs for One and All!

Exterior signs get all of the attention as you travel around town, and sometimes, that’s all you need. Yet, it’s what’s on the inside that counts when you’re trying to make sales, get visitors to appointments on time, boost your branding, and just plain come off as being the cool dude on campus. Here are some stellar interior signs in Vancouver, WA to help you pull off all of these goals.

Trade Show Displays – If you’ve ever exhibited at a trade show, you know how much work goes into staffing and planning your booth. You also need to be sure that you have displays that knock event-goers’ socks off, fold them up, and put them back nice and neat in their sock drawer.

Retail and Point of Sale SignsYour store needs dynamic displays that captivate and engage consumers if you want any chance of making it in the dog-eat-dog world of retail sales. We have your back with posters, promo signs at your checkout counter, in-store demo signs, and more.

Labels and Decals – We’ve labeled a lot of interesting things, including logos on hockey helmets, merchandise at grocery stores, and more. We’ll help you choose the right material and cut it precisely and perfectly for your project.

Dimensional letters and Logos – Sign foam, aluminum, acrylic, and PVC are just a few of the materials we use to make your branding jump out at people.

Wall and Floor Graphics – Whether your visitors like to look at the ground or the walls, you can get your marketing message in front of their eyes with floor and wall graphics.

Retractable and Pull-Up Banners – “Float like a butterfly and market like a bee.” That’s how the saying goes, right? Regardless, retractable and pull-up banners are easy to transport and make a big visual impact.

Lobby and Reception Area Signs – Show clients they’ve found the right place and welcome them in with a lobby sign featuring your unique colors, logo, and fonts.

Directories and Wayfinding Signs – There are buildings in Vancouver where people have been wandering around for decades trying to find the room they want. Don’t lose customers this way! Show them where to go with wayfinding signs.

Digital PrintWe have a pretty awesome large-format digital printer. It allows us to print on just about any material with precise, full-color detail. We print on vinyl, canvas, fabric, paper, and dozens of other substrates.

One-Stop Guide to Lobby Signs in Vancouver WA!

By | Interior Signs, Lobby Signs

Tired of stopping at multiple guides to learn about lobby signs? Don’t do it anymore! The mighty sign makers at Specialty Graphic Solutions have put together this one-stop guide to lobby signs in Vancouver, WA to help you welcome in clients and guests while building your brand awareness. Check out these solutions:

The World of Lobby Signs!

Acrylic Letter Lobby Signs – Acrylic cut letters are a popular option for interior signs. Don’t worry: they aren’t made of repurposed fake fingernails though that could be a million-dollar idea. Instead, we use high-quality materials that come in dozens of standard colors. Or, we can paint your acrylic marker any color you want to match your other marketing materials. In addition, we’ll cut the letters and logos to any width, depth, or height you want.

Acrylic Logo Panels – Acrylic also works well in panel-form. We just take a slab of clear acrylic and cut it to any shape or size you need. Then, we add digitally-printed vinyl adhesive films featuring your logo and company name. Next, we install the panel with spacers to give it a three-dimensional appearance without ever needing to wear those weird 3D glasses. Of course, you’re welcome to wear 3D glasses if you want.

Metal Laminate Letter Signs – With individually cut metal laminate letters, you’re able to get the same elegant look of solid metal without having to blow your entire marketing budget. We take a thin layer of real metal alloy and apply it to PVC, high-density urethane (HDU), acrylic, or other substrates. The letter is then routed to match your corporate logo or font. Metal laminates come in several different colors, including gold, silver, and Blue Steel.

HDU Letters – HDU letters are the smart option if you want a reception area marker with depth. Also referred to as sign foam, HDU letters are popular because they’re versatile and good for the environment. If you want a glossy appearance, we’re able to apply an acrylic laminate to the letters. Or, if you need precise detail, our large format digital printer will print directly onto the letters.

Illuminated Lobby Signs – If you’re thinking of getting an illuminated reception area sign, we’re required by law to warn you that they’re only for trendy businesses that are on the cutting edge. VHS rental stores need not apply. Backlit lobby signs usually have acrylic faces through which LED lights shine. You don’t have to worry about your electric bills since LEDs are energy efficient as well as low maintenance.

This is just a sampling of what we have to offer. When you contact us, you don’t need to know what you want. That’s the job of our mighty sign makers. They take your goals, company culture, and budget and turn them into top-notch signage recommendations.

No matter what industry you’re in, even if you’re still somehow renting out VHS tapes, we’ll help you find a lobby sign that’s right for your organization. To get started with a free consultation on lobby signs in Vancouver, WA, contact SGS today!

Postal Connection Adds New Location Signs in Hazel Dell WA!

By | Banners, Exterior Signs, Interior Signs

Opening a new business is a lot of work. You have to secure the proper licenses, hire employees, buy equipment, rent a venue, pay off the mob, and have plenty of product. In the rush to open their doors to the public, many organizations forget about their signage. These companies don’t last long. Postal Connections understood the importance of having the right signage, so they contacted the mighty sign makers at Specialty Graphic Solutions for new business signs in Hazel Dell, WA.

Postal Connections Does More than Just Snail Mail

Busy individuals and small businesses turn to Postal Connections for all of their “back office” needs. They essentially serve as their clients’ packer and shipper, personal mailroom, outpost for passport photos, photocopy department, communications center, gift shop, and more. They take care of everything from notarizing documents to receiving personal business faxes. Across the United States, they have dozens of storefronts. The one near us is in Hazel Dell on 78th Street at Highway 99.

When a company that does such a great job of helping out local households and enterprises came to us for new location signs for Hazel Dell, WA, we were more than happy to help. As discussed in our last blog, we produced a halo-lit logo sign for Postal Connections. Even before the logo sign, though, owners Adrienne Boynton and Tom McNabb (her father) had both worked with us in their other endeavors. They knew they could count on us to deliver. We didn’t disappoint!

How We Helped Postal Connections

Adrienne and Tom needed a way to get noticed in their new location. After listening closely to their goals and vision for the project, we came up with a number of recommendations that would fit their budget and help them brand. Below is a bulleted list of what we decided on:

  • Window Graphics – To advertise their services and hours on their nice, large storefront windows, we provided them with both print and cut vinyl window graphics.
  • Loading Zone Signs – To save prime parking spots for their customers with packages to pick up or drop off, we supplied Postal Connections with loading zone signs. These consisted of laminated digital prints on .063 aluminum sign blanks.
  • Custom Pricing Signs – This part of the project was pretty neat. Tom has many years of experience in the construction industry, so he built a new custom countertop with a really cool blue/black marble patterned laminate. He then made four matching custom price signs with the same laminate face. We then created the vinyl graphics to go on the face of those signs.
  • Swooper Flags – Finally, we provided them with twelve-foot tall double-sided Swooper flags to promote their services to all of the traffic driving by their prime location.

In the end, Adrienne and Tom were completely satisfied with the work we did. The new clients are streaming in!

Metal Lobby Signs Offer a Professional Look!

By | Interior Signs, Lobby Signs

What does a professional look like? Perhaps, you envision someone in a nice suit. Or, maybe the Blazers’ star point guard Damian Lillard comes to mind. Some of you may even think of that one ‘90s movie with Natalie Portman in it. Well, at Specialty Graphic Solutions, we immediately think of metal lobby signs for Vancouver, WA when we’re asked for professional signage. Fortunately, we work in the signage industry, and this isn’t a weird response at all. Check out some of our handiwork:

Aluminum Panel Lobby Signs

One of the most affordable metal options you will find on the planet is aluminum. It’s also valued for its durability and versatility. That’s why we often recommend it to companies looking for a professional appearance that won’t break the bank. Astadia was just such a company. We reproduced their complex company logo perfectly using digitally printed adhesive vinyl. We added a brushed metal finish to add texture to the sign to make it really stand out.

Raised Letters with Brushed Metal Finish

Speaking of brushed metal finishes, we produced raised letters, also called dimensional letters, for one of our favorite clients, iQ Credit Union, featuring the brushed metal look. Raised letters are an excellent way to make your name pop out at visitors. We can installed spotlighting hidden near plants, or your reception area markers can be installed on a focal wall with plenty of lighting to produce an elegant play of light and shadows.

Gold Laminate Lobby Signs

Obviously, if we were all as rich as a certain GOP presidential candidate, we’d have lobby signs made out of pure gold. Unfortunately, we don’t all have that kind of money (or hair). Not a problem! We’re able to take the thinnest of gold laminates and apply them to just about any substrate to give off the appearance that you’re rolling in the “Benjamins.” That’s exactly what we did for Angus Lee Law Firm when we applied gold laminate to an aluminum composite sign panel.

Aluminum Laminate Dimensional Letters

Though aluminum is much more affordable than gold, it’s also used as a laminate. There are several reasons why clients choose this option. While aluminum is the least expensive metal that’s used in sign making, it’s still more expensive than other materials, such as sign foam or acrylic. Also, it’s rare to find aluminum that’s thicker than half an inch. If you want dimensional letters that are thicker than that, you’ll need a substrate. For Vesta Hospitality, we added an aluminum laminate to PVC to produce their unique logo.Vesta Hospitality, we added an aluminum laminate to PVC to produce their unique logo.

As you can see, metal has a wide variety of applications in lobby signage. And, you may have also noticed the types of businesses that use these markers: primarily law firms, accounting firms, and banks and credit unions. In addition to having a professional look, metal lobby signs for Vancouver, WA also project an image of stability and longevity.

If these are characteristics your organizations is trying to convey, contact the mighty sign makers at SGS today for a free consultation on metal reception area signs.

Interior Dimensional Lettering for Your Portland OR Business

By | Dimensional Letter Signs, Interior Signs, Lobby Signs

Before we begin today’s blog entry, we’d like to politely ask that all two-dimensional business owners and entrepreneurs please discontinue reading. You’d find that the following isn’t relevant to your interests. And, we wouldn’t be able to sleep at night knowing that we’d wasted your time.

That said, for those of you who operate or manage multi-faceted organizations, we have a special type of signage that can really help you stand out: dimensional letter signs. Enterprises that want to get their branding or other messages across in a distinguished way turn to these markers to get the job done. Below, we’ll cover some of the best uses for interior dimensional letter signs in Portland, OR.

What Can You Do with that Extra Dimension?

Interior dimensional letter signs are an excellent solution anywhere in your building. Sure, they may be a little overkill in a janitor’s closet, but you can still use them there. Here are some of the more realistic uses:

Showcasing Your Mission Statement – If you operate a nonprofit organization or if your business just takes great pride in its core values or mission, then you should consider displaying your mission statement and values to remind donors, visitors, and employees of why you do what you do. Your conference rooms or meeting rooms are the ideal locations for these signs.

Wayfinding Signs – Are guests in your building constantly getting lost for hours on end? Help them out with dimensional letter wayfinding markers. These signs will grab visitors’ attention and lead them where they need to go.

Lobby Signs – You can invite clients into your offices while building your brand awareness when you have dimensional letters highlighting your company fonts, colors, and logo. If you like dimensionality added to your dimensionality, we can even standoff mount the letters.

Departmental Signs – If you have several departments located within your building or suite, you can save employees’ and clients’ time by clearly labeling the different parts of your enterprise.

What Are Dimensional Letters Made of?

We don’t believe in treating every project the same way at Specialty Graphic Solutions. As a matter of fact, we know that your organization needs to be approached with its uniqueness in mind. That’s why we offer a broad range of material alternatives to cater to different interior decorating schemes and tastes.

Our most popular materials are PVC, aluminum, sign foam, acrylic, and wood. Which is best for your business? It all depends on your branding. For instance, if you run a cutting edge tech firm, you might want to consider flat cut acrylic letters that are mounted with spacers. Or, if you run a law practice with traditional values, aluminum or aluminum laminate letters are a better choice. If figuring out the right materials for your dimensional letter sign has you breaking out in a cold sweat, you can lean on our team to help you decide what best represents the image you want to project.

If you’re looking for a top-quality sign shop that won’t spoil Star Wars for you, contact the mighty sign makers at SGS today for a free quote on interior dimensional lettering in Portland, OR.
