Life-size Cutouts Are Big Part of Legendary Marketing Promotion

Do you believe in legends and mythical creatures?  iQ Credit Union believes they can help make a big impression and we do too!  Our challenge: create seven foot tall, life-size cutouts of Sasquatch.  These life-size stand ups are part of iQ’s new legendary loan rates promotion. 

Building a custom stand up of mythical proportion is no problem for the mighty sign makers at SGS.  We’ve done our fair share of wrangling the unusual and we love the projects iQ Credit Union brings. This includes sock monkeys, various sea critters and adorable canines!  We specialize in taking our customers’ creative ideas and bringing them to life.

It’s not every day that you get asked to make a seven foot tall Sasquatch.  The conversation went something like this:

“You know those big cardboard standups?”


“Can you make some that are seven feet tall?”

“Of course!”

“Can you make some of them fold up for transport?”

“We’ll find a way!”

“Oh – and at least one has to fit into a tiny Scion iQ Car.”

“We can do it!”

iQ made Sasquatch fashionable with a fanny pack too.  He’s modeling their quarterly promotional giveaway for members who update their email addresses with the credit union. 

Naturally, iQ needed some massive Sasquatch footprints for their branches too.  These fun floor graphics are another way for iQ to promote this campaign plus they add an interactive element.  You can see children and adults following each Big Foot through the branches. 

The graphics can be applied to any tile or low-pile carpeted surface. When the campaign is over, they simply peel off and leave no trace behind. Just like the Big Guy himself.

Lewis and Clark College just finished consolidating their IT Help Services into a single Help Desk located in the library.    Once the move was completed, the IT staff was then faced with the question of how to make sure students, faculty and staff could find them.  The answer –  Floor graphics!

The college created a fun & noticeable path with bright blue dots on the floor that led to the new service desk in the Aubrey R. Watzek Library.  No need for extra confusion and headaches when IT services changed locations.  The dots clearly led the way.

And no worries that they had different floor surfaces to work with in the library.  These graphics work on tile, low pile carpets, linoleum, hardwood, concrete and more.

Wayfinding is crucial on a college campus – especially with so many new students arriving each year.  Effective signs and graphics are a smart tool to help people get where they need to go. And especially in the 11th hour when that laptop seems to have eaten the essay due tomorrow – the IT service desk staff didn’t want frustrated students to end up getting lost while looking for help.

According to Kelly Wainwright, Sr. Director of Client Engagement,  the floor graphics are working.  Folks are finding the help desk and even having a little fun in the process.  She said some folks actively try to step on each dot and others purposefully avoid walking on them – maybe because they don’t want to ruin the dots.

But walking on them is no problem.  They’re covered with a sturdy, non-slip laminate and will hold up for a couple of months even with all the rain & mud headed this way for the winter.

Retail Floor graphics work for businesses.  Working with a canine-themed message promoting doggone low rates, Specialty Graphic Solutions recently produced a series of great retail signs for iQ Credit Union.  Retail signs can be a powerful tool for promoting specific products and offers.  And these particular signs really made tracks . . . literally.

Using special purpose floor vinyls and non-skid overlaminates, SGS produced paw print floor decals that were placed on both tile and carpet floors in all the iQ branches.  We also  made laminated counter graphics for display at each teller counter.

The floor and counter graphics were unique and easily noticed.  The bright red eye-catching color of the decals didn’t hurt – but the unusual placement was what really drew attention.

In addition, SGS produced a set of high quality posters that featured actual dogs owned by iQ staff members.  These were positioned in the branches at eye level in more traditional fashion.  Together the retail signs, floor graphics and counter decals created a compelling visual message that helped grow the credit union’s business.

To keep in step with your competition, you need to commit to attending at least nine trade shows this year. And experts say the optimum booth size is about 200 net square feet.
