Push Thru Sign for Legacy 6

By | Truck Lettering, Uncategorized, USDOT Lettering
push through acrylic lit sign with brushed aluminum

Push thru signs use a solid piece of acrylic that is routed into letters then inserted into the sign face.  In this case, we used clear acrylic letters with a translucent green vinyl to give the sign the glow.  The number 6 in the logo is clear acrylic with a brushed aluminum laminate face.  This creates a halo-lit effect for just that element.  The sign itself is a lighted cabinet.  The led strip lights inside create a very even light distribution.  The face of the cabinet had the same letters routed out so the acrylic letters can ‘push thru’.

Legacy 6 Construction takes great pride in their logo and lighted push thru signs create a modern look in their office lobby.  The first impression some customers get is your business lobby.  A lighted lobby sign like the one here is unique and eye-catching.

Mighty Sign Maker lobby dimensional letters on wall

Rebranding, All Over the USA

By | Inside Signs, Interior Signs, Lobby Signs, Reception Area Signs

When Astadia needed to rebrand five locations with new lobby signs they called The Mighty Sign Makers for rebranding help.  With just a single point of contact, our client was able to complete sign projects in Dallas, TX; Houston, TX; Jacksonville, FL; Raleigh, NC; and Nashua, NH. This meant that our client’s marketing team could stay focused on the needs of their customers instead of all the details involved in coordinating a lobby sign project in each location separately.  Specialty Graphic Solutions fabricated, shipped and installed five great lobby signs. This ensured a consistent and high-quality brand image is conveyed in all of their US offices.  Ordering and installing new signage, as part of a company rebranding, is often one of the last priorities.  Corporations with multiple locations nationally or internationally either have an in-house design department or they use a separate design company.  What they don’t have is production and installation capabilities.  That is where we come in.

The lobby signs they designed all feature a brushed metal panel with raised letters and the logo that welcome clients and employees alike to the Astadia offices. The new logo represents the direction of the company and the future it envisions for clients. Astadia’s CEO, Rebecca Rogers Tijerino, explained the colorful design as such: “The triangle symbolizes creativity; the delicate combination of colors is the powerful combination of ideas and skills; the peak points to the cloud, where technology and our aspirations lie; and its shape resembles an ‘A’ for Astadia.”

At Specialty Graphic Solution, we make it easy to create signs for multiple locations. We take care of all the details for you – including arrangements for local installers to ensure your new signs are displayed professionally in each unique location.  It was exciting to work with Astadia as their company starts this new chapter. The company specializes in streamlining and improving data resources for businesses so they can function better and grow.

We will help you Get Noticed when rebranding, lobby signs, reception signs, corporate values and core belief displays and other indoor signage.  The Mighty Sign makers also produce excellent building signs, vehicle graphics, fleet graphics, trade show displays, window graphics, event signage, wall murals and more.

A Year of Great Sign Projects at SGS

By | Our Work | No Comments

The Mighty Sign Makers here at SGS had a fantastically busy 2014 helping our wonderful customers Get Noticed.  Here are just a few of the different kinds of jobs we completed this year.

January – Willows Boutique Mirror Graphics

Window graphics are a really great way to brand your business and share information with customers. Willows Boutique put a unique twist on window graphics and asked us to put graphics on their mirrors to add a nice personal touch and let shoppers know they can get social.

February – Magnetic Menus at Providence Park

Need to make a quick change? Magnets make it a snap! We printed up the concession menus for the awesome guys at Centerplate (the Providence Park catering company) again this year including this magnetic version. MLS fans – grab some grub and cheer on the Timbers again starting in February 2015!  GOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!

March – Qualident Dental Lab’s Pop-Up Trade Show Display

A pop-up can be more than a poster! Check out this awesome exhibit display for Qualident. The printed fabric is a breeze to attach to the pop up frame.  In additional to looking great, it’s lightweight and easily transported. Now that will make you smile!

April – Clark County Food Bank Box Truck Graphics

We’re privileged to work with the fine folks at the Clark County Food Bank.  Here’s one of several trucks we updated this year with graphics that help them build brand awareness about the food bank and recognize major sponsors.

May – Window Graphics for Advanced Dental Concepts

Advanced Dental Concepts gave us a great space to work with for some eye catching window graphics. We used a combo of printed graphics and frosted vinyl for this bold look. The frost stripes give a bit of privacy while adding a nice design detail.  And the printed upper section is on a perforated material that allows patients and staff see out!

June – Cox Communications Floor Graphics

Floor graphics are an awesome way to promote your message. We designed and printed up these hearts/paw prints for the Cox Communications team in Las Vegas to help them collect donations for a pet needs drive. Donors claimed their own paw, personalized it and then were able to stick it on the floor to create great visual display showing how much Cox employees care.   Remember – if you’re there and we’re here, we can still help. The SGS team is great at packing and shipping.

July – Jammin’ Foam Board Guitar for iQ Credit Union

iQ Credit Union throws all sorts of fun things at us. This time they asked, “Hey, can you make us a guitar?” Taylor picked this spiffy Jackson model. And with a few clicks in Photoshop, Jason made it iQ red.  Rock On!!

August – Humane Society for Southwest Washington Wall Graphics

These bright and happy letters are a purrrfect addition at the Humane Society.  Find your own furry canine or feline soul mate at your local animal shelter.

September – Lobby Sign for Voxel Farm

Oh, Canada!  We packed up these painted dimensional letters along with easy to follow installation instructions and shipped them up to the fine folks at Voxel Farm in Montreal.  Tres Bon!

October – Dutch Bros. Coffee Cart Wrap

We always like wildcard projects so we really perked up when we got this job!  Check out this quick video showing how  the whole project came together.  And find your nearest Dutch Bros. here!

November – Columbia Land Trust Window Graphics

These frosted window graphics and lettering make the windows work as art for Columbia Land Trust while still giving the staff some privacy and letting visitors know exactly where to find these new offices in SE Portland.

December – It’s a Full Wrap for iQ Credit Union

We wrapped up the year with a brand new full wrap on this Scion IQ (yes – it really is an IQ for IQ ….).  So out with the old – hey it was white underneath!  And in with new branding for 2015!

4 Easy Ways to Make Your Creative Signs Stand Out

By | Interior Signs

4 Easy Ways to Design Creative Signs

Designing creative signs and banners is hard if you’re not sure where to start.  In order to create designs that stand out and get noticed, you’ll need to know a few basic graphic design tips.  Let’s look at some concepts we use that will help you get started on your creative design.

1.  Keep It Simple

Simple designs easily stick in peoples’ heads.  A design that’s too complex or busy may attract attention, but won’t leave a lasting and positive impression.  And let’s face it – without that lasting impression your branding efforts fail.  When designing signs, banners or even a vehicle graphic it’s best to keep it simple.  Settle on a limited color palette and stick to it.  Minimize clutter by avoiding crazy symbols or lettering that take away from the graphic design.  Simple designs have an elegance and beauty that people remember.

2.  Imply Motion

An object in motion is more interesting to the human eye.  It may seem counter-intuitive but you can actually create motion within a static design.  Diagonal lines are one way to represent movement.  Repeated objects also imply motion.  Follow the flow of your picture to see where your eyes are naturally drawn.  If you can’t easily move around the picture, add more motion.  A good example is this window graphic at Willows Boutique. The bold diagonal lines in the logo guide the eyes to the store hours and social media!

3.  Remember That Colors Affect Mood

Colors evoke feelings in people.  The colors you select for your sign or graphic can subliminally work to your advantage.  Although we all experience colors differently, there are a few guidelines that will hold true for most people.  Red is seen as actionable and powerful.  Blue is calming, trusting, and serene.  And green is healing while yellow is cheerful.  Use color in your exterior sign or ad campaign design to affect the emotions of people and their perception of your business and its values. This chart shows you how colors influence buyers:

4.  Be Different

Your business is unique.  Don’t be tempted by the ease of stock design templates.  Try something different.  Use images instead of letters and let the eye fill in the difference.  Experiment with rotating or flipping text.  Turn a picture upside down.  Eye catching design is memorable so stretch the boundaries and get noticed.  A simple design with a unique element or two stands out from the rest of the crowd.  Research your competition and create designs that set you apart.  Brainstorming is always time well spent.  Go for a walk or spend some time looking at images on the web.

At Specialty Graphic Solutions we spend as much time brainstorming ideas as we do actually creating the designs.  A great place to start is Pinterest. We find it’s a great tool for inspiring us and learning how others get noticed. We even have a board dedicated to it!

Get Started Sign Designing

Of course four tips are only a starting point.  Creating signs and graphic designs that really pop can be challenging and intimidating.  Not to worry!  We put the “Specialty” in Graphic Solutions!  We want to get to know you and your company personally.  That way our ideas are focused around your business and its unique culture and identity.  Our team of experts craft signs and visual displays that implement all of the best design practices to get your business noticed.   Let us help you stand out and show your brand in a fresh, memorable way!

3 Reasons For 3D Signs

By | Dimensional Letter Signs, Interior Signs, Lobby Signs

3D Signs Stand Out

reception desk sign timber dental 3-D letters with shadows HERO

Let’s face it—we live in a 3D world. Yet some business signs seem to be doomed to the flat life of two dimensions. It doesn’t have to be this way.  Not when dimensional signs are available. Taking your sign designs into the same 3D dimension we all inhabit can come with some perks.

Visibility

Why do companies put up signs in the first place? They want people to see them, of course. Incorporating a dimensional sign adds visual interest, but it also does something much simpler, something much more important—it increases visibility.  People are more likely to notice unique signs, colors and shapes.  Adding a third dimension to a sign adds a visual element flat signs simply can’t compete with.

Dimensional signs have depth.  And that increases both visibility from more angles and the chances of getting noticed.

Timber Dental’s lobby sign has three tiers that help this new family dental practice stand out.  The toothbrush and company name stand off the wall with spacers to give even greater depth and interesting shadows.  The tag line is even done in raised letters that are attached directly to the wall.  The result is a sign that really pops.

Special Effects

One of the best things about dimensional signs is that they can actually create their own special effects.  For instance, a sign can be layered or staggered to create different visuals from different angles.  And lighting from either the front or back can create unique looks.  Shadows created by dimensional signs generate striking effects that just can’t be replicated with flat signs.

Specialty Graphic Solutions 3D building sign

The Specialty Graphic Solutions awning sign has four different depth elements.  It uses the depth between the wall and the frosted acrylic to let diffused light shine through from behind the 1/4″ thick acrylic panel.  Then there are raised, painted letters on that acrylic.  The raised logo gives additional depth and style.  A flat sign could show the same basic information and colors, but it just wouldn’t have the same interesting feel and depth of this display.

First Impressions

Let’s face it.  When it comes to advertising, the first impression is the one that really matters.  We’re visual creatures, so make that first impression count with something that really sticks in your customers’ minds and establishes a positive perception of your business.  Dimensional signs show that a business cares about quality and professionalism.

While any professionally made-sign can greatly increase awareness and business, dimensional signs are especially well-suited to make a positive and lasting first impression.   Just remember – when your sign stands out so do you.  Do you need to spruce up that first impression?  Are you ready to step into a new dimension?  Try going 3D!  It’s as easy as contacting us for a Free Quote.

3 Tips For Creating Amazing Lobby Signs for Your Business

By | Interior Signs

The Importance of Interior Signs

Imagine treating yourself to a massage at a new place in town.  You park out front and go in the closest door to the overhead sign.  There’s no sign on the door or inside anywhere.  No one is at the reception desk.  You have to wonder, “Am I in the right place?”  Has this ever happened to you?

Getting new customers is hard work!  So don’t let customers turn around and walk out the door in confusion.  Your outdoor sign helped you get them into your business.  Put up a lobby sign to welcome them once they’re inside.

But not just any lobby sign.  Make that first impression really count with a lobby sign that shares much more than just a “You’re Here” message.

Here are three simple tips you can use to create an amazing lobby sign for your business.

Tip #1: Complement your decor

The best designs for lobby signs follow this simple rule – blend the character of the company and the surroundings.  That’s why it’s important your signs are designed with your decor in mind.  No matter how good a deal you can get on a futuristic, clear acrylic sign with red LED lighting, it won’t really work in an elegant professional waiting area with mahogany paneling.

This reception sign by The Bold Collective brands the space and serves as a great piece of art too. This reception sign by The Bold Collective brands the space and serves as a great piece of art too.

Tip #2: Show your personality

The most amazing lobby signs have some character.  A children’s clothing maker might want to show a bold and playful look with brightly colored dimensional logos that stand off the wall to look a little like they are floating.  But a company that makes sustainable clothing and gear for serious outdoor enthusiasts might choose a lobby sign that uses colors like green and brown and natural materials such as wood and stone to convey its personality.

We found this on Pinterest and loved the mix of reclaimed wood and smooth metal that makes this sign cool. We found this on Pinterest and loved the mix of reclaimed wood and smooth metal that makes this sign cool.

Tip #3: Work with professionals who can bring your lobby sign design to life

The most important tip of all is to work with a team of professionals who know how to bring your design to life. The right sign company will take the time to understand you and your business and ensure all the little details are considered for your lobby sign project.  The right sign company will also have lots of different materials, fabrication methods and mounting options so your logo is displayed in just the right way.

Lobby Signs Signal New Company Direction for Astadia – Project Update

By | Interior Signs

New Lobby Sign for Astadia

When Astadia and Idea merged into a single entity, they created a new logo to symbolize the direction of their business.  And when they needed this new logo displayed on eye-catching new lobby signs, Specialty Graphic Solutions was there to help.

We were able to handle the design, production, and installation for reception signs in five of Astadia’s US offices.  Using a single point of contact, our process made it easy for Astadia to have their new company logo proudly displayed in multiple locations across the country.

The end result was five sleek, modern signs that were installed in Dallas and Houston, Texas; Jacksonville, Florida; Nashua, New Hampshire; and Raleigh, North Carolina. The lobby signs feature a brushed silver aluminum rectangle with a brightly colored raised logo and black lettering to make Astadia stand out to anyone who enters their offices.

Astadia Logo

Astadia CEO Rebecca Rogers Tijerino explained what the new logo means to the company. “The triangle symbolizes creativity; the delicate combination of colors is the powerful combination of ideas and skills; the peak points to the cloud, where technology and our aspirations lie; and its shape resembles an ‘A’ for Astadia. It is such a thoughtful and meaningful logo. Every company should be so lucky.”

Astadia specializes in helping businesses improve their internal data so they can serve customers better. They are dedicated to creating “a simpler tomorrow” for businesses and we were proud to be part of Astadia’s new look and new company direction.

Specialty Graphic Solutions makes it easy for clients to complete a job in more than one location with exceptional results.

red and black 3D lettering on wall in reception lobby for Vesta

Custom Interior Lobby Signs Shine for Vesta Hospitality

Corporate Office Signs

When Vesta Hospitality moved into new corporate offices they knew they needed a great corporate office sign lobby sign that would convey both the company image and leadership’s commitment to excellence for every one of its hotel projects.

red and black 3D lettering on wall in reception lobby for Vesta

We designed a classic dimensional letter sign using the company’s logo to be featured above the new reception desk.  Routed and painted PVC letters spell out Vesta Hospitality in two different sizes so that Vesta is the most prominent word in the sign.  The logo’s stylized circle was created with a brushed aluminum finish.  All of the individual letters and shapes were mounted on studs or directly to the wall to create 3 different variations in height off the wall – small detail that makes for a big impact.

Vesta leaders also wanted nameplates outside each executive team member’s office.  Instead of using standard nameplates, we used the circle in the Vesta logo to make unique, custom nameplates.  Using the same brushed aluminum finish featured on the lobby sign, we created one-of-a-kind nameplate bases and simply used cut vinyl for the individual names.

Vesta Hospitality

Vesta Hospitality has impressive new corporate offices.  But more importantly, Vesta brings a dynamic energy to hospitality and hotel management and offers a complete range of services including project funding, hotel management, hotel development and purchasing.

Whether you are looking to create new signs for a new location or update existing lobby signs and nameplates, we’re the sign company that can help you find a solution for your unique needs and corporate office signs.  Want to talk to us?
